of the Atlantic Ocean, or the pristine sailboats and mega-yachts
that ply the Intracoastal Waterway, or the magnificent sunsets
that bathe downtown Ft. Lauderdale in golden light, the views
from Coral Ridge Towers “South” are true memory-makers. Cool
ocean breezes team up with Florida’s glorious sunshine to
provide comfortable temperatures throughout the year. Coral
Ridge Towers South is a “55-and-over” co-operative community
where a relaxed life style is interspersed with city life and
culture. The 16-story building is one of four towers built in
the late 1960’s. The last of the four to be built, its
completion marked the construction of the largest residential
building in Florida at that time. Obtaining its funding from
the Department of Housing and Urban Development, it was the
first HUD-sponsored residential unit to incorporate a swimming
pool on its premises. The complex was deemed to be remarkable
for its time. Coral Ridge Towers “South” has evolved into a
modern, friendly community of both year-round and seasonal
residents. The one, two, and three–bedroom units range in size
from 800 to 1400 sq. ft. Three passenger elevators and a large
service elevator provide easy access to each floor. A 30’x60’
heated swimming pool surrounded by a patio area with lounge
chairs, tables and umbrellas, an exercise room with
state-of-the-art equipment, and a large community room provide
ample opportunities to meet with friends and are conducive to an
active lifestyle. A library of books, magazines, videos, and
DVDs are available for residents’ use. Cable TV, storage
lockers, shuffleboard courts, a barbecue and picnic area, a car
wash, and a bike storage unit are also among the amenities
offered at Coral Ridge Towers “South” A closed circuit TV
station provides updated information to building residents.
Receiving area personnel notify residents when packages have
arrived. Shopping carts help with the transfer of groceries
from automobiles to apartments, and laundry and trash facilities
are readily available. Each apartment has an assigned parking
spot. An on-site building manager oversees a full-time staff of
maintenance workers, office and security personnel. A
nine-member Board of Directors is dedicated to establishing
policies and initiating projects in order to provide a fine
quality of life in the building.
